Dear Honorable Orange County leaders,

I am writing to you in support of Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies and supervisors (represented by the Police Benevolent Association) receiving an $1100 bonus Sheriff Demings recently proposed to them.

Webster’s Dictionary defines a bonus as a “reward given for work performance.” Orange County deputies have displayed excellent work performance as indicated in recent media articles reporting that crime is down significantly. A bonus is also given “without conditions” attached that would be detrimental to the recipient. Unfortunately, Sheriff Demings only offered this bonus if deputies accept his contract proposals that deputies deem as unacceptable.

In summary, I humbly request that our honorable Mayor and Board of County Commissioners strongly encourage Sheriff Demings to provide deputies their much needed and well deserved bonuses “without conditions.”
